Evidence of Red and Miko Kings have both received Honorable Mentions, for poetry and fiction respectively, from the 2010 New York Book Festival. Congratulations, LeAnne!

    I am reading “Shell Shakers.” It is a very interesting book, and I intend to pass it on to others who share an interest in or are Native Americans, specifically Choctaw. Living here in the area of the end of “the long march” for the Choctaws and growing up in Bryan County Oklahoma very near the site of the “Casino of the Sun,” I feel I almost know the books’ characters. Thanks for the picture that allows us to see that past is present, not only in Choctaw culture, but in all cultures.

    Thanks Mary Kathryn for your generous comments about Shell Shaker. Our work as fiction writers (at least I think it is) is to make our characters come alive on the page and to make the world of the novel, relevant, for the reader. I hope our paths cross soon,
